Probably the most practical travel advice for Italy you will get is to make sure you get your money situation taken care of before you get on the plane. If you are going to use traveler’s checks then have them ready before you leave. If you are going to use credit cards then make sure your available balance is enough to get you through your trip.
Never rely on cash as your main source of money for a trip to a foreign country. You may want to have some Italian pocket cash for your trip but keep your major expenses on traveler’s checks or credit cards. It may also be a good idea to brush up on Italian currency and how to use it before you go to Italy. Not everyone in Italy is on your side when you don’t know how to use their money.
